Gabriela Mistral
Hi classmates!
Well, today I´m going to talk to you about my greatest Chilean of all
time. She´s
Lucila de María del Perpetuo Socorro Godoy Alcayaga, you might wonder,
who is? Her pseudonym is Gabriela
Mistral. She was a prominent poet, diplomat, and Chilean feminist pedagogy born
in Vicuña, Chile, but was raised in the small
Andean village of Montegrande, where she attended the Primary school.
In 1904 Mistral published some early poems,
such as "Dreams", “Intimate Letter” in the local newspaper “El Coquimbo”, “Diario Radical”, and “La Voz de Elqui” using
a range of pseudonyms and variations on her civil name.
She´s one of the leading figures of the Chilean continental literature
and was the first Latin American and, so far, only the latin American woman
awarded the nober prize for literature in 1945.
The motivation for his award was "his lyrical work, inspired by
powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations
of the entire Latin American world"
I think how Gabriela Mistral,
was a very good person, when she died donate her money for the childrens in
“Montegrande”, where she did classes. I would like to ask Gabriela about the
Chilean culture and the Chilean supporting for her career, because I think it
hasn´t been considered as such will take importance in the Chilean culture.
The image of Gabriela has appeared in the 5000 Chilean bill from July
1981 after that in 2009 was renamed the Diego Portales building to call Centro
Cultural Gabriela Mistal in her honor.

My beautiful and disastrous faculty
Hi classmates! Today I´m
going to talk to you about our faculty of arts
Well… the current situation in my faculty of arts in the
University of Chile is very bad considering that the faculty It’s the first art
school in Chile and has more than one hundred years, for example the infractucture
is in very bad conditions, the rooms in winter are raining, the bathrooms are
in poor condition, don´t have the basics: toilet paper or soap and the tables
of painting are in very bad conditions. The faculty needs to improvement the
bathrooms, the lecterns and tables of
painting and drawing, also the ceiling of the classrooms and the stoves are in
poor conditions, in occasions there is a gas leaks, which is very bad for
healthy, and the exam rooms are very dirty. among other things. The steps to deal
with this situation are, first make a “asamblea” with all the students,
continuing make a list of demands and finally to speak with the director of
career. The situation I think resolves how the university deliver more money at
our faculty, hiring people, buying new tables of painting, etc..
The benefits of this
improvement are very much, one of this the quality and our life in the school
would be more happy.

Post 1
Hi,
classmates, today I´m going to talk to you about the place how I´d like to
visit.
Well, I
love travel… when I was a little girl my dream was to travel for all the world,
especially to Europe, because is the home of the art. Europe has important
historic, we can found many famous historical sites and architectural,
including Eiffel Tower and ruins of ancient Greece, Rome, and Venice.
In Europe
is possible travel to many different countries, thanks to the compact geography
of the continent. Well…I would like to visit Italy, especially Venice, because
the place is really nice and is a city in northeastern Italy, I´d like to visit
the “Piazza San Marcos, because is the only square of Venice.
I know
about it because my teacher of drawing lived there and he tell me about this
place and the Public transportation is done by boats known as the “Vaporetto. I´d
like to study in venice because it´s a very magical place, surrounded by water.
Well
classmates this is all
Good
weekend
See you
next week
On this post, I will explain how the blog work will be assessed.
Two marks will be averaged. Mark 1 is for continuous assessment (i.e. coming to class and posting IN class the complete task). If you come to class & write the right number of words, plus the ideas your are asked to express AND comments, you get 2 points. If you don't come to class & post from anywhere else within 24 hours, you get 1 point. After that there are no points, but you can still write for the sake of learning & because of mark 2.
Mark 2 is for 2 particular posts that will be evaluated in terms of (ideas (n° of words), word range & grammar). If the post is not there when it is marked, you get a 1.0 for that post. These 3 marks are evaluated and give an average final mark.
Ps: You can use www.wordreference.com but NO translators. If you do the latter, you get a 1.0 & no points for your post. The worst of all, you don't learn. :(
MARK 1 +MARK 2= /2 = FINAL MARK
These two marks will be averaged and will give your final mark :) If you have any doubts, let me know.
Kind regards,
Beatriz
